One of the late Larry Cohen’s most unhinged and outstanding films, “God Told Me To” is more than just a cult classic. This film takes aim at religion in such Cohen fashion, and if you still have an old DVD or Blu-Ray lying around this is a great chance to upgrade to the gorgeous 4K UHD disc on a discount!
Of all the horror films based on holidays, would you believe that “Uncle Sam” is the only one based on 4th of July? Sure, it is a uniquely American holiday, but this summertime slasher is more than it seems. Packing great kills alongside some biting social commentary about war and patriotism, this one is written by Larry Cohen and directed by Blue Underground’s founder William “Bill” Lustig!
Another one from they dynamic duo of Cohen and Lustig, this is one of the few sequels that surpasses the original in almost every way. The stunt work, makeup, and action are all leveled up, and it looks great with in Dolby Vision HDR (check out our review of this disc).
Featuring creature effects from legendary Stan Winston and written by horror favorite Dan O’Bannon, “Dead & Buried” is a perfect seaside shocker about a town of malevolent cultists. It’s bonkers, and features some of cinemas best eye-trauma…with more to come!
The House By The Cemetery 4K UHD
The third in Fulci’s “Gates of Hell” trilogy and easily one of the weirdest, this is the best this film will ever look AND sound. Boasting a Dolby Vision HDR transfer and a Dolby Atmos track, this is a must-own for all Fulci fanatics and Italian gorehounds!
One of the greatest zombie films of all time, and the only one to feature a zombie vs shark scene. Fulci’s “Zombie” is easily one of the most highly regarded and outstanding films in the crowded sub-genre, and this Blue Underground release packs in heaps of special features, a great HDR transfer along with a Atmos track. It also has one of the most horrific eye-puncturing scenes caught on film. If you don’t own this yet, you have no excuse to not get it now!
Joe Spinell, Tom Savini, and Bill Lustig’s transgressive slashterpiece “Maniac” is one of the best horror films ever made. It’s a time capsule to the years of the debaucherous 42nd Street in NYC and is a prolific and gritty look into the life and mind of a serial killer. “Maniac” has never looked grosser or better, and you owe it to yourself to add this to your collection.
