‘BOY KILLS WORLD’ ACTION-THRILLER ADDS FAMKE JANSSEN, BRETT GELMAN, AND SHARLTO COPLEY TO KEY ROLES

 

Brett Gelman, Famke Janssen, and Sharlto Copley have signed on for the upcoming action-thriller, BOY KILLS WORLD.

Moritz Mohr’s upcoming debut action-thriller film, BOY KILLS WORLD, has just added Famke Janssen (X-MEN, TAKEN trilogy), Brett Gelman (Stranger Things, Fleabag), and Sharlto Copley (District 9, Russian Doll) to the already star-studded cast.

The dystopian film, which also stars Bill Skarsgård (IT: Chapter Two, Deadpool 2) is being produced through Sam Raimi’s production company, and though no release date is currently available, according to Looper, the film is set to start filming in South Africa very soon.

The BOY KILLS WORLD family has grown with stars Famke Janssen (X-MEN, TAKEN trilogy), Brett Gelman (“Stranger Things,” “Fleabag”) and Sharlto Copley (DISTRICT NINE, “Russian Doll”) added to the cast of the highly-anticipated action-thriller.  Portraying the film’s antagonists - the Van Der Koy family – are Copley as “Glen,” Gelman as “Gideon” and Janssen as family matriarch “Hilda”.

In addition, Quinn Copeland and twins Cameron & Nicholas Crovetti who have signed on as “Mina” and young “Boy” (respectively). Quinn Copeland is known for her role as “Izzy” in the modern take of the 1990’s TV hit “Punky Brewster.” Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti both starred in David E. Kelley’s critically acclaimed limited series “Big Little Lies,” and co-star with Naomi Watts in the upcoming theatrical release GOODNIGHT MOMMY.  

Said producer Alex Lebovici, “BOY KILLS WORLD is rich with unique and exciting characters. The cast we’ve assembled is a tremendous line-up of talent who are perfect for the roles they have taken on. We look forward to collaborating with them and bringing this story to life.”

German filmmaker Moritz Mohr is set to make his feature directing debut on the project. Producers are Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi through Raimi Productions, Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment, Simon Swart and Wayne Fitzjohn through Nthibah Pictures and Alex Lebovici of Hammerstone Studios.  Stuart Manashil and Dan Kagan are also serving as producers. Reza Brojerdi of Ventaro Film and Andrew Childs are Executive Producing.

The screenplay was written by Arend Remmers (Sløborn) and Tyler Burton Smith (KUNG FURY: THE MOVIE). 

Other key cast in place includes Bill Skarsgård (IT: CHAPTER TWO, DEADPOOL 2) in the title role of “Boy,” martial arts master Yayan Ruhian (JOHN WICK 3, THE RAID: REDEMPTION) as Boy’s mentor “Shaman,” Jessica Rothe (HAPPY DEATH DAY franchise, ALL MY LIFE) as “June 27,” Andrew Koji (WARRIOR, SNAKE EYES) as “Basho” and Isaiah Mustafa (IT: CHAPTER TWO) as “Benny.”

Based on an original idea by Mohr, BOY KILLS WORLD is a one-of-a-kind action spectacle set in a dystopian fever dream reality. BOY is a deaf mute with a vibrant imagination. When his family is murdered, BOY escapes to the jungle and is trained by a mysterious shaman to repress his childish imagination and become an instrument of death.
