GET OVER HERE! AND CHECK THIS MORTAL KOMBAT TRAILER OUT!

MORTAL KOMBAT fans rejoice! From the looks of this new trailer we were blessed with today, we finally have an accurate representation of MK in a movie worth watching!

While I was indeed a fan of the first 2 films (MORTAL KOMBAT 1995 and MORTAL KOMBAT: ANNIHILATION) this trailer already surpasses everything I ever felt as a 6 year old child watching an arcade game come to life on the big screen and I will count the ways!

One, we see that Jax losing his arms through a run in with Sub-Zero. There have been multiple reasons in the games why Jax has robotic arms. As far as the movies go (ANNIHILATION) we simply see Jax in a laboratory by himself on a stretcher with enhanced arms without any real explanation. But here, we simply see the why and the how in the most brutal way possible. Classic MORTAL KOMBAT in under 24 second of this trailer!

Two, we see the birth of Scorpion. Okay, not the actual birth with like a woman pushing out a baby. I mean the story behind Scorpion. I’m assuming the assassins he just destroyed are members of the Lin Kuei (clan which Sub-Zero is a member of). In the games, the Lin Kuei and the Shirai Ryu clan (Scorpions clan) have a rivalry where as in the orignal 1995 movie MORTAL KOMBAT, Sub-Zero and Scorpion worked side by side for Shang Tsung. It is said that this battle scene we witness here in the trailer is an extensive scene in the opening of the film.

Three, this fight scene we get a glimpse of between Scorpion and Sub-Zero legit feels straight out of the NetherRealm games. Just seeing the full extent of these two characters arsenal being utilized is something we really never had in the past 2 films. Also, hearing that “Get over here!” in the least cheesiest way, was brilliant.

4. Goro. I love how he looks great and not like a muppet gone wrong. That is all.

As you can tell, there are many reasons to be excited about this film, and many more reasons I haven’t shared here. Luckily, very soon (as you can tell in the official poster above), we will be able to watch this film on April 16th of this year in (hopefully) theaters and also on HBO Max!
