Here are the top 5 choices you need to add to your digital collection:

1) Event Horizon ($4.99)

Synopsis: When the Event Horizon, a spacecraft that vanished years earlier, suddenly reappears, a team is dispatched to investigate the ship. Accompanied by the Event Horizon’s creator William Weir (Sam Neil), the crew of the Lewis and Clark, led by Captain Miller (Laurence Fishburne), begins to explore the seemingly abandoned vessel. However, it soon becomes evident that something sinister resides in its corridors, and that the horrors that befell the Event Horizon’s previous journey are still present.

Why You Should Buy It: It is not only a sadistic, twisted, and crazy thrill ride of a movie, but it kind of feels like “Hellraiser” in space (some people don't like to count “Hellraiser: Bloodlines” in this category but that's up to you). The blood and gore in this movie are top notch and the entire cast shines with their perfectly symbiotic acting skills as they play off of each other. The story is very well put together with how things slowly build up to the insane twist with what exactly happened to the previous crew and what is terrorizing the main characters. It is one of those movies that is a great rewatch and will keep you on the edge of your seat with each viewing.

2) The Mist ($4.99)

Synopsis: Following a violent thunderstorm artist David Drayton (Thomas Jane) and a small-town community come under vicious attack from creatures prowling in a thick and unnatural mist.

Why You Should Buy It: This is one of those gems within the cinematic world of Stephen King. Not only does this movie have an amazing cast with Thomas JaneMarcia Gay HardenLaurie Holden, the late/great Andre Braugher, and much more, but it takes place in a confined area of a local store that adds a palpable paranoia and intensity that brings out the actor's incredible performances. The way they divide, easily turn against each other, and cause terror within the walls is very entertaining. The biggest reason you need this in your collection is the ending. An ending that wasn’t the original ending in the book, but one that made Stephen King himself wish he would have added it in the book. It comes out of nowhere and makes you feel the pain of everyone involved.

3) May ($7.99)

Synopsis: May (Angela Bettis) never really fit in growing up. Wearing a pirate’s patch to cover her lazy eye did not make things easier. Even as an adult her best friend and sole companion is a doll – until she sees Adam. In awe of his beauty, especially his hands, she pursues a relationship for the first time in her life. She soon finds out that people are not perfect….only parts of them are.

Why You Should Buy It: Where to begin with this underrated horror movie. It is a female-driven film with a great cast, plenty of gore, and also some amazing things that will keep you wanting more out of this potential cult classic. It gives a great creepy vibe and a coming-of-age story with an incredibly macabre outcome. It not only is a great movie to watch once, but an excellent movie to watch around our favorite spooky season.

4) Stir of Echoes ($7.99)

Synopsis: Tom Witzky (Kevin Bacon) is a blue-collar worker, a family man, and the most ordinary guy in the world….who is about to be plunged into a shattering encounter with another world. It doesn’t matter that Tom doesn’t believe in the supernatural, because something supernatural has started to believe in Tom. After he is hypnotized at a neighborhood party, Tom changes. He sees things he can’t explain and hears voices he can’t ignore. As the horrific visions intensify, Tom realizes they are pieces of a puzzle, echoes of a crime calling out to be solved.

Why You Should Buy It: This movie is a creepy ghost story, true crime and a “who done it” rolled into one. Kevin Bacon is no stranger to horror movies (see “Hollow Man”, his debut in “Friday the 13th” and “Tremors”) and it shows how great his performance is. There are a lot of jump scares that are genuinely terrifying and this movie has an ending that sits with you well after the movie is over.

5) Frailty ($9.99)

Synopsis: A boy tries to protect his brother after their seemingly normal father (Bill Paxton) goes on a killing spree.

Why You Should Buy It: Out of this entire list, this movie is the biggest hidden gem and most underrated. It isn’t well known but has a great cast including Matthew McConaughey and directed by Bill Paxton himself. It is a crazy rollercoaster of a movie that will have you question everything that is happening in front of you and make you wonder what is truly going on. Is it God telling the father to kill demons disguised as people, or is this just someone who has lost their sanity needing an excuse to kill? It is just one of those you will have to find out for yourself but is going to make you want to go back to watch it multiple times to see what you missed.

Whether you are looking for some good horror movies to add to your digital collection or watch a horror movie you may have passed up because it wasn’t very well known, these horror movies will make for many horrifically terrifying nights ahead of you. So, turn down the lights, grab some popcorn, and dive into some amazing horror movies to appease your bloodlust while you wait for the Halloween season.
